Like we said, We Party With a Purpose. Listed on this page are some of the charities that we
have supported in some way whether that be through community service,
donations or otherwise.
If
we can help your organization please email our
Philanthropy Director and tell us how. We are ready to help
you!
Central Texas Parrot Head Club members at the Safeplace Walk

One of the ways we
raise money to support these many deserving causes is by holding a raffle
for prizes at every Central Texas Parrot Head official function. Not only
is this a great way for our members to win a fabulous island-themed item,
but it also gives each member a chance to contribute financially towards
our charities. All raffle earnings are distributed periodically to the
charity of the club's choosing.
You can help and get FREE advertising for your retail
business on our website and newsletter, by contributing (goods, services
or funding) to our events and raffles. Email
our Philanthropy Director for more
information. Contact us today to discuss how we can work together to leave
the world a little better than we found it!
Domestic
Violence and Sexual
Assault
Survival
Center - Austin-SafePlace
is the result of the joined efforts of the Center for Battered Women,
which was the first shelter for battered women and children in the State
of Texas, and the
Austin
Rape
Crisis
Center, which has been
providing Austin with sexual assault
prevention and support services since 1974. These two centers joined
forces in 1998 to form what is now SafePlace. Together, they provide
services for survivors of interpersonal violence in the
Austin community. Their
facilities consist of a 24,000 square foot
Resource
Center, 29 supportive
apartment communities, emergency shelters, and onsite and state licensed
schooling and child care facilities that children can safely attend
because of their confidential locations. And even with all of this going
for them, they still turn away thousands of women, children, and even men,
each year who need their help. The Central Texas Parrothead Club began
working with SafePlace approximately 4 years ago. It has been such a rewarding and
enlightening experience and we are very proud to support this amazing
organization. If you would like to make a donation or would like more
information about SafePlace, you may do so at www.austin-safeplace.org.
The
Austin Zoo is a non-profit Rescue, Rehabilitation, Educational, and
Habitat preservation located in the beautiful Hill Country outside of
Austin.
The Austin Zoo is a 100 acre site with educational and animal care staff
and serves as a sanctuary for rescued animals as well as an educational
tool for visitors and the community. Their family of animals includes both
domestic and exotic species. The outskirts of the Austin Zoo showcase the
Central Texas Hill Country and the Austin Zoo’s Prairie Restoration and
Wildlife Habitat Enhancement projects. In all, the Austin Zoo is home to
over 400 animals representing over 100 species. Ninety percent of these
animals are rescues or owner released pets. Keeper staff, educators and a
number of volunteers combine to keep both the animals and visitors happy
and entertained. The Central Texas Parrothead Club has proudly sponsored
Parrots at the Austin Zoo for the last 7 years. Annual donations are made
to the Zoo specifically to help offset the costs of caring for these
birds. If you would like to make a donation or would like further
information about the Austin Zoo, you may do so at
www.austinzoo.org.
The
Alzheimer's Association-Greater Austin Chapter is a non-profit
organization that provides family support, community education, public
awareness and supports research for the prevention, cure and treatment of
Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Their mission is to provide
leadership to enhance care and support services for individuals and their
families while supporting the advancement of research to eliminate
Alzheimer's disease. The Central Texas Parrothead Club participated
annually in the Alzheimers’ Annual Austin Memory Walk. This is the
Alzheimers Association’s national signature event to help those battling
Alzheimer's disease. Memory Walk has raised over $120 million nationally
since it began in 1989. As
this is a disease that touches everyone’s life at some time (including
Jimmy Buffett’s) the Central Texas Parrothead Club looks forward to this
event each year and the opportunity to make a difference in such a very
worthy cause. If you would like to make a donation or would like more
information about the Capital Of Texas Chapter of the Alzheimers
Association or Memory Walk 2006, you may do so at www.alz-austin.org. You may also find information
on a national level at www.alz.org.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas provides a
“home-away-from-home” for families with critically ill or injured children
undergoing treatment in Austin area hospitals. Additionally the Ronald
McDonald House has many different programs that help people in need such as
their Healing Hearts Program that provides ongoing support services to families
within our community who have experienced the loss of a child. They also have
grant, scholarship and family assistance programs. The Central Texas Parrot
Head club has been participating in their Pull Tab program. It’s a wonderfully
easy way to help. Our members collect the “pop tops” from the top of aluminum cans
which are periodically collected at our happy hours and then given to the Ronald
McDonald house. The Ronald McDonald house in turn recycles all of them and uses the
recycling money to help fund their many programs. For more information on the Ronald
McDonald House go to
http://www.rmhc-austin.org/.
